The porn industry is huge. I mean like literally massive. So there is no real surprise that porn is all over the internet, in a range of different formats. From free porn tube sites, to adult dating and hookup sites, to webcam models stripping live. How we get our porn fix has been changed for ever by the internet.
In addition to now being able to access pornography in a range of different formats there are now a vast array of porn genres. The infamous ‘rule 34’ of the internet states that ‘if it exists there is porn of it’ and I’m sure that is quite likely to be the case! Free porn tube sites, along with paid sites, cater for every conceivable fetish, from the weird and wonderful to the slightly strange.
Every year, the worlds most trafficked porn website (60th in the world according to the Alexa 500 list) Pornhub.com, compiles their annual review – pulling together all their various data into a wealth of information about the worlds porn habits and preferences.
In 2015 we discovered that the top 5 most popular search terms worldwide were; lesbian, teen, step mom, cartoon and milf.
Now that we are into 2017, Pornhub have released their stats for 2016 and there is little change in the top list. For 2016, the top search terms globally were; lesbian, step mom, milf, teen and step sister.
For a second year running, the most popular search term was lesbian. Given most men’s fantasies about seeing two women get it on, there is no great surprise that this one makes the list. Likewise, teen, which also topped the list in 2014, is still there in the top 5 list over the last two years. The adult entertainment industry for years has been churning out titles in the ‘barely legal’ category, either using models who have not long turned 18, or older women posing as 18 year olds. Some might consider it a fine line to tread, but there is no doubt that men all over the world have a thing for a young, inexperienced and just legal woman.
2016 sees cartoon porn being replaced in the top 10 by another strange trend. Despite being nowhere to be seen in the 2013 list, 2014 saw the emergence of step mom and mom as phrases to be reckoned with. Now 2016 sees step sister push out cartoon. There has been a growing trend in the popularity over the past few years of incestuous terms. Whilst milf has generally stood to mean the mother of another person, a growing number of videos online are promoting step mom, step sister, step father, step brother sexual relationships of one kind or another. It is difficult to pin down why exactly these terms are so popular, but they do seem to be growing in prominence. It is now rare that the homepage of Pornhub does not contain at least one recommended or most viewed video in this category.
It will be interesting to see what 2017 holds for the industry and to see how our tastes and kinks will change in the coming 12 months. Here’s to a sexy year!
